Melrose - December 30, 2018: The two best teams in the Chateau Lanes Division locked horns on Sunday night in an eagerly anticipated spongee game. The Wheat Kings brought youthful exuberance and speed. Apocalypse Now brought experience and measured moves. It was the experience that won in the end as Apocalypse ran away with a 5-1 victory, finishing it off with an empty net goal by Jason Allard. "They were definitely the most skilled team we have played so far this year" Jim Heim said after the game.
Slap Shots: Jeff Wrobleski's goal was the 50th game opener of his career....Patty Nikolaus had the game winning goal for the third game in a row. Myron Fiks has the record for the most consecutive game winning goals; 6...it was Allard's 26th multi-goal game of his career...Bryan Wiebe took a tripping penalty near the end of the game.
