Apocalypse Now 6, Whalers 3
Melrose - February 12, 2022: It was the battle of number 1 seed Whalers and the number 8 seed, Apocalypse Now. The first half was tight checking and cautious but Apocalypse came out with a 2-1 lead. They changed ends and the sun was in the eyes of the Whaler goalie. After the Whalers tied the score at 3, Pete Tavares took advantage of the sun and scored with a wide open net as the goalie lost track of the puck. "He was looking in the other direction." Tavares said. Apocalypse Now moves on to play the Swafflers tomorrow afternoon.
Slap Shots: Bryan Finney contributed a goal and an assist. He has 32 playoff points in 44 games...Pete Tavares got his first playoff game winning goal. He also got an assist and a penalty for roughing which is a Gordie Howe hat-trick if Gordie Howe played spongey.
