Following in his great father’s footsteps, Jason Allard got his first taste of spongee action in the 1995-96 season with Apocalypse Now at the tender age of 15. That year and the following season saw Allard play a hand-full of games with the big club. It was not until the 1999-2000 season that he was ready to step into a regular spot on the roster and he made an immediate impact scoring 4 goals and 9 points in 13 games. His first career goal was scored in a 6-5 loss to the Heart Attack Pack in January, 2000. The next year he signed with the Bloody Fists where he honed his skills and became a prolific scorer and an all-star player. In 2007, Apocalypse Now went shopping for an offensive minded forward and Jason Allard’s name was at the top of the list. "It has been a dream of mine to play for Apocalypse Now since I was little," Allard said. "But I never really seriously thought about it until I was much older. I knew you really had to be good to play for them. But when I got to be 15 and 16 I got a chance to experience the excitement of the Apocalypse team and understand the commitment that is expected. Today I'm here and I'm very happy." |

More of a finesse player, Jason Allard tends to lurk away from the action until he spots an opening in the defense, and then he unleashes hard wrist or slap shots a split second after the puck reaches him. Elaborating on the way his father's style of play contrasted to his own, Jason said, "He was a smart player and aggressive when necessary, real flamboyant. Me, I just hang in the weeds, biding my time, nice...and...passive."
In 139 regular-season games with Apocalypse Now, Allard has scored 100 goals and 181 points and has won the scoring title three times. He also set an Apocalypse record by assisting on 5 consecutive goals in a game against his brother Taylor’s team, TSF. |
