Guido was born on July 10, 1965 and as he grew up in Canada, honed his skills on a backyard rink and regularly played hockey at a level far above his peers. He joined Apocalypse Now in the 1995-96 season but only played 2 games. In those games, he notched a goal, two assists and a penalty. What really stood out was his nastiness and enthusiasm for the game and he was brought back for full time duty the next year. Guido scored his first career hat-trick in his fourth game of the 1996-97 season and had 12 goals in his first 8 career games |

He stickhandles in a broom closet, runs like his hair is on fire and unleashes a shot heavier than the total amount of chicken wings consumed in a season. “I think he’s by far the most talented player in the league,” Kildonan League Commissioner Bobby J says. “By far.” This sponge hockey force of nature puts pucks through defensemen’s feet and retrieves them on the other side, not beating the blueliners so much as tormenting them.
Guido has played Sponge Hockey for over 20 years on Apocalypse Now. He has won the season scoring title 5 times including 3 years in a row from 2001 – 2004. He has scored more points (406) than any other player except Jeff Wrobleski. He tallied over 20 points in 12 of his 20 seasons. He holds 11 Apocalypse Now records, 6 regular season records and 5 playoff records. He has led Apocalypse Now to two B-side championships and four A-side finals. Guido is known for being able to score goals in remarkable fashion, the most incredible, perhaps, in the final game of the 2002-03 season when he set a record for the most goals in one game in a 10-5 win over Grand Beach. When the day was done, he had scored an incredible 7 goals in the game. He stripped the Grand Beach Beer Bellies for parts and abandoned them on the side of the road Guido Sever is a future Hall of Famer. |
