Apocalypse Now 6, Junk 1

Valley Gardens – February 12, 2011 Apocalypse Now came out firing on all cylinders as Myron Fiks blasted a slapshot past the Junk goalie on a pass from Guido Sever on the first shift of the game. Shortly after this, the emotions of a fired up Apocalypse team got the better of them as Guido got into a shouting/pushing match which lead to a penalty kill for the fan favorites. The successful kill lead to a goal by Patrick Nikolaus and another one by Fiks. The 3-0 lead got the Junk fired up and things continued to get even chippier as abrasive d-man Tristan Carlson got into it with the same Junk player that Guido had issues with, which lead to an ejection for both players. Shortly after this Guido was tossed after taking his third penalty. The game was put well in hand as Fiks put home two 2^nd period goals giving him 4 on the day. Apocalypse was forced to play the last 7 minutes with only 5 players after the ejections, showing off the famous endurance that has ground many a younger team down over the years. Ice Chips: Jim Moore continued his fine playoff play with 2 more assists and all around stellar play. After 17 years of sponge, has Jim finally found his all around game? Jim Heim was steady when called upon as Apocalypse continued their fine defensive play in this playoffs…Myron’s explosive 4 goal performance tied him with Joe Moore on the all-time playoff list with 18 goals and 40 points… Guido ended up with 19 penalty minutes as a player is charged with 10 penalty minutes for a game misconduct for statistical purposes. That beat the previous single game record of 16 minutes against the Red Army last year.
