Apocalypse Now 7, Club St B Highrollers 2

Valley Gardens  – December 12, 2010 – Patrick Nikolaus scored on his first shot early in the first period to give the Apocalypse Now an early lead and they went on to beat Club St B, 7-2 on Sunday night in the season opener for both teams. He scored a second goal which was the 1800th goal in Apocalypse Now history and assisted on another to finish the night with 3 points.  “I felt good out there” he said afterwards, “I’ve worked out all summer to get ready for this season.” Jim Heim was able to ease into the season with the big lead and without much action, needing to make minimal saves.  Notes: This was the fourth time in Apocalypse Now history that the team scored 7 goals in a season opening game. The last time was against the Grand Beach Beer Bellies in 2006-07, the best opening season games saw the team score 8 goals on two occasions; 1999-2000 & 2001-02…this was Nikolaus’ first 3 point game since January 22, 2005 in an 8-6 pounding of the Reapers…Rob Moore’s 2 goals were his 200 and 201 career points
