Now 4, Drunken Fish 9
Melrose – February 10, 2008 – Happy Birthday, Patrick Nikolaus. Have another
drink! Despite Nikolaus playing at his loosest, the turning 28 year old could
not change the fortunes of the desperate Apocalypse Now as they fell 9-4 to the
depthless Drunken Fish. The Fish took control early and never let up. Jim Heim
was pulled with at least 6 minutes to go with the score 7-3. Apocalypse managed
to close the gap but the Fish eventually potted 2 empty net goals and it was
game over. Slap
Shots: Jim Moore and
Duane Jarvis could not make it to the game…The end of season race was disrupted
by a clash between Myron Fiks and Nikolaus. The
yelling and name calling got the attention of all three rinks before Fiks
jumped into his truck and stormed away…It was a disappointing weekend for the
Apocalypse team. After getting their asses kicked on Friday night, the game on
Saturday was cancelled when the Proliners failed to
show up. The entire Apocalypse team was waiting and ready to play in the bitter
cold… No one seemed happy with the Kildonan play-off
format which saw teams playing other random teams that they had never played
before. There was also no control over the recruiting of ringers. The beer
gardens did well, though.
