Apocalypse Now 6, Team Dixon 6

Morse Place   February 1, 2009 – Apocalypse Now and Team Dixon were separated by one point in the D-Gel Division entering the last game of the regular season. The matchup was every bit as good as the teams’ lofty records and burgeoning rivalry heralded, with both clubs trading clutch goals and nasty hits with equal vigor. In the end, nothing was settled as the game ended with a 6-6 tie. A snow storm rolled in at the midway point which hampered the passing game and worked to Team Dixon’s advantage. “Of the 12 games I played this year, I think I played on good ice just twice,” Jeff Wrobleski said. Notes: The drought is over. Guy Sever won the scoring title for the first time in five years (2003-04).  It is the fifth time he has won the title with Apocalypse Now. Wrobleski has also won it five times…Bryan Finney is the highest scoring rookie (14 points) since rookie sensation Mike Sanderson set a franchise rookie record with 33 points in his first and only year (2001-02)…Jason Allard recorded the third hat-trick of his career and the only one delivered by anyone this year…with his 4 points, Jason Allard moved passed Patrick Nikolaus, Ron Porada and Greg Kostal into 19th place in total career scoring.
