Apocalypse Now 4, Belgian Club Crusaders 6
Melrose - February 11, 2024: Apocalypse Now were facing an uphill battle in Division Two of the playoffs as they faced some elite teams. Today it is the Belgian Club Crusaders who brought out 18 players compared to Apocalypse Now who had 2 spares. The ref decided to call a couple of questionable penalties on Apocalypse in the first half but let the Crusaders get away with numerous holds, hacks and trips. Kevin Brass made several spectacular saves and the score was tied 2-2 at the half. The Crusaders managed to grab a 4-3 lead in the second half and put out their best guys of the 18 to defend it. They scored an empty net goal but Peter Tavares was able to knock in another one to keep hopes alive. Unfortunately, the Crusaders got a second empty net goal and the season was over for Apocalypse Now. The 40th season was the shortest ever (12 total games) but the future looks bright for this legendary team.
Slap Shots: Guido Sever, Roman Jaworski and Jeff Wrobleski were all unable to answer the bell for the game due to injury... Jason Allard had 2 goals and an assist. He now has 90 points in 64 playoff games...it was the 130th Apocalypse Now Playoff game with a record of 66 wins and 64 losses.
