Apocalypse
Now 5, The Sopranos 2
Park City West – February 11, 2011 After passionate pleas for everyone to put Apocalypse
Now first for this weekend, Jim Moore and Guido Sever walked the walk after
talking the talk and both had outstanding games. Guido scored 2 goals including
one of the nicer empty net goals you will see and Jim was outstanding doing his
best Paul Coffey/Bobby Orr impression back on the point, scoring one goal and
making a beautiful feed to Myron for a powerplay marker. Apocalypse stormed out
to a three to nothing lead but their exuberance lead to penalty trouble and two
power play goals for the Sopranos. Despite outplaying the Sopranos, one could
feel the momentum slipping away on the Horsemen. A power play late in the game
was going absolutely nowhere until Big Jim Moore danced through the slot and
fed Myron Fiks, who absolutely buried a beautiful one timer that the beleaguered
Soprano goalie had no chance on. From that point on, it was a defensive
shell to keep trouble away from Jim Heim, who was steady throughout the game. Media
after the game questioned the curious decision to keep Guido (2nd in
all time playoff goals and 195 regular season goals) sitting on the bench
through 2 futile power plays. Coach Wrobleski promised to look at the tape
after the game. Ice
Chips: Missing from action were Rob Moore and Brian Finney.
Questioned after the game about his strong opinion that team comes first above
all else, Jim Moore was highly critical of Rob Moore’s decision to put parenting
over the Apocalypse. “He has a wife, why couldn’t she have taken the family on
the hockey trip?” he asked. At the
social following the game, members of the team were seen taking a collection
for Jim’s potential divorce settlement.
