Ratz 9, Apocalypse Now 1

Melrose – January 26, 2014: Relentless is the word Apocalypse defenseman Jim Moore chose to describe the surging Ratz’s style of play. The Ratz scored early and often as they extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 9-1 victory over the Horsemen on Sunday night. “We just couldn’t get anything going.” Moore said. Notes: Patrick Nikolaus assisted on the lone goal. It was his 50^th career assist. He is the 12^th player to hit that mark and the second player this year. Bryan Wiebe got his 50th assist a couple of weeks ago versus the Flaming Martyrs…it was another brutally cold night but the players objected to the shortening of the game. The referee cited his cold nose as the reason for the cut back. Jim Heim was ready to stick around after the game to practice. “Haven’t you seen enough pucks?” Nikolaus asked him…next up is a rare Sunday morning game against the unpredictable Whalers.
