2022-23

For the second year in a row the season was cut short due to warm weather and the Season Opening game was played on January 6, 2023. There were a lot of roster moves this year. The most noticeable change was in goal. Rookie Goaltender, Kevin Brass took over for Jim Heim who elected to play on the wing. Jim Moore also returned after missing 32 games with an Achilles injury. Myron Fiks also returned after missing the entire 2021-22 season. Patrick Nikolaus missed the regular season due to injury but was able to lace up for the playoffs. The two Bryans, Wiebe and Finney announced their retirement from the team. Rookie Dave Silva was brought on board as a replacement. The Regular Season had its ups and downs: Missing goaltenders, being shutout for only the 16th time in 530 games, and a final record of 5 wins and 7 losses.

The Play-Offs

The playoffs were a different story, however, as the team rolled to a B-Side Championship. They concluded their season with a dramatic flair, showcasing resilience and determination on the ice. Despite facing formidable opponents, the team demonstrated a strong commitment to teamwork and strategic play. Memorable moments include clutch goals, stellar saves and clear-cut victories.

Other notable occurrences in the season included: - Jeff Wrobleski became the first player to score 300 goals. He also hit the 500 game mark - Jim Heim continued his Iron Man Streak and is now at 125 consecutive regular season games played He has not missed a game in over 10 years. - Michael Moore won the scoring title and only played 6 regular season games, the fewest number of games to ever win the title. He became the only Apocalypse player to ever score a hat trick on his birthday. He broke a couple of playoff records. He recorded his 5th career playoff hat-trick, moving one ahead of Myron Fiks and Pete Pearson. He smashed the record for consecutive playoff goals with his 6th in a row over 3 games. He also set the record for most consecutive playoff points with 9 in a row. The record of 7 had been held by Jeff Wrobleski since 1989. To top it off, he scored 14 goals in the playoffs which beat Pete Pearson’s 11 goals scored in 1987. - Myron Fiks got his 200th career assist in his 278th game and Jason Allard played in his 200th career game.
