2019-20

Great things were expected from Apocalypse Now after winning the B-Side Championship in the 2018-19 Season.  The season started with a high scoring affair against the Legion of Doom and although they didn’t win that game, they did not lose their next four games. The wheels fell off in the middle of the season when Bobby J moved them into the First Sunday Division and in the end, they finished with a 6-7-1 record.  The 37th season of Apocalypse Now went very fast and ended quickly.

Other notable occurrences in the season included:

Jim Moore missed the entire season due to an Achilles tendon injury.

Myron Fiks played every single regular season and playoff game. It was the first time in his life that he made it to every game. Myron beat Jeff Wrobleski's record for Most 20 or More Point Seasons. Myron now has 15.

Pete Tavares moved into the Top 25 scoring by passing Darren "Daddy" Warbeck

Jim Heim continued his Iron Man Streak and is now at 101 consecutive games played. He also played Defense for two games with his Goalie Pants on.  He managed to pick up an assist.

Dave Meier filled in at goal for a couple of games while Heim played defense. Meier is the 39th goalie to play for Apocalypse Now.

Michael Moore won the scoring title.  He also passed his dad, Joe Moore in regular season and playoff points.  He also broke Guido's record of Most Consecutive Points Scored. Michael scored 12 in a row in the first 4 games of the season. Michael also equaled Guido's record of Most Career Hat Tricks (24).

The Play-Offs

It was a disappointing Playoff Year. It started with one of the worst playoff losses in history; 12-2 to the Legion of Doom. The Melrose rink was very dark and Heimy could have used some night-vision goggles or a glow in the dark sponge puck. Things looked better on Saturday with a close 5-4 win over the Stingers but fell apart in the second half of the Sunday game against the Belgian Club Crusaders and that was it.  The much-anticipated end of season race that was to pit Bryan Wiebe against Guido Sever did not happen. Guido sustained a quad injury in the second playoff game and was unable to run.

ROSTER: Michael Moore, Jason Allard, Myron Fiks, Jeff Wrobleski, Rob Moore, Guido Sever, Bryan Wiebe, Tristan Carlson, Patrick Nikolaus, Bryan Finney, Jim Heim, Pete Tavares, Dave Meier (rookie)
