2016-17

Apocalypse Now started the year anticipating this would be a tough year. Missing several of their top scorers (Michael Moore, Guido Sever & Myron Fiks), they retooled and recruited rookie, Peter Tavares and in a surprise move, coaxed Ken White out of retirement to see if he still had the offensive magic that made him a season-opener legend over 25 years ago. The strategy did not work and the comeback was short-lived as Apocalypse had the worst start in team history only scoring 2 goals in the first 2 games.

Help was needed so a deal was finally made with Fiks that allowed him to return to the team. This strategy worked as Apocalypse Now won 7 of the 8 games that he played in. They controlled the tempo of almost every game.  They slowed it down whenever possible.

Jason Allard won the scoring title with 21 points. He also scored his 100^th career regular season goal.

Other notable occurrences in the season included:

· Patrick Nikolaus reached new heights by scoring a career high 11 goals. He also notched his 50^th career goal.

· Jim Moore became only the 4^th Apocalypse Now player to hit the 300 point mark in his career.

· Both Tristan Carlson and Bryan Finney surpassed 100 games played.

· The 21 minutes in penalties was the 4^th lowest in Apocalypse Now history. The lowest ever was 14 minutes in 2006-07.

· Jim Heim’s 3.00 goals against average was the third best in his career.

· Heim is also the current iron-man with a record setting 60 consecutive games played in goal.

· Jeff Wrobleski added to his record of most multiple assist games in a career. He now has 82.

It was a good playoff year as the team won their first 3 playoff games and competed in the A-Side Final. The game was delayed a week due to good weather and as such, they were a bit rusty. It was a close game but lost 4-2 to the Belgium Club Crusaders.
