2012-13

30 YEARS! Apocalypse Now celebrated their 30th anniversary this year and hoped to make it a banner year. Jeff Wrobleski and Rob Moore are the only two players who have played all 30 years and there is no end in sight now that Michael Moore has rejuvenated their careers.

Helmets became a mandatory piece of equipment this year which took a little getting used to, especially with the tuques underneath. Apocalypse Now began the year with a pair of losses and then rattled off 12 straight wins in a row, starting with their arch rival, Grand Beach Beer Bellies.

It was a year that saw the first woman to ever play a regular season game for Apocalypse Now. In 2 games, Allison Moore had a goal and an assist. Jim Heim collected his 100th regular season win. Rob Moore became the first player to hit the 400 regular season game mark. Guido Sever added to his record hat trick total. Then there is Michael Moore. He set the record for the most goals scored in one season (35), most points (48), most multiple goal games in a season (10), most consecutive multiple point games (8) and tied the record for most goals in a game (7), most consecutive multiple goal games (6), most games with goals in a season (12), most consecutive goals (4), most hat tricks in a season (7) and probably a few others.

Apocalypse Now scored 91 goals in the 2012-13 season. Let’s break them down:
53 of them were scored in the first half of games. 38 were scored in the second half. In the first 7 games, 40 goals were scored. In the last 7 games, 51 goals were scored. The average goals per game was 6.5.

Other notable occurrences in the season included:
• Jason Allard scored the season opening goal for the 4th time in his career which is a new Apocalypse Now record.
• Jeff Wrobleski celebrated the 300th assist of his career.
• Apocalypse Now collected its 200th regular season win. (January 6, 2013 vs. the Ratz)
• Jim Heim equaled the mark for most shutouts in a season – Two.
• Jason Allard tied the record for most games with assists in a season (11)

The Play-Offs

It was a somewhat disappointing playoff season. It started with a shoot-out win against Straight Out of The Uterus, followed by a decisive win over the Outlaws. After winning the first two games and feeling very confident, Apocalypse Now went into the semi final against East Side Dead Weight and faced a hot goaltender. Despite a spirited performance, they lost 7-5.
