Apocalypse Now 1, Hugh Jammers 2
Melrose - January 6, 2023: A contoversial goal in the first half lifted the Hugh Jammers to a 2-1 win over Apocalypse Now on Friday night. The net was knocked to the side by the Jammers but play went on and they were able to squeeze the puck by the rookie goaltender, Kevin Brass. Generating offence was a problem for the rusty Apocalypse team despite a second half powerplay and they couldn't solve the Jammer goalie. Brass was pulled for the extra attacker with just over a minute left and the Jammers quickly made it 2-0. Jeff Wrobleski was able to chip in a goal with a dozen seconds left but it was too late for a comeback.
Slap Shots:Wrobleski now leads the team with 2 goals. The last time he had 2 goals in his first 2 games was in the 2014-15 season...Jim Heim may be playing on the wing now but he is still the current Ironman. He has not missed a game in 10 years as he played his 115 consecutive game...some of the team met for drinks at Spanky's after the game...there is little time for rest as the next game is Sunday at noon versus the Fighting Fire Hydrants, who lost 8-1 and 10-1 in their games tonight.
