Apocalypse Now 0, Legion of Doom 11
Westridge- December 21, 2025: A new season. New jerseys on the way. A new location. and a new younger team. Excitement was in the air as the sponge puck dropped on this Sunday afternoon. The elation quickly turned to misery as Apocalypse Now were pounded by the LOD, 11-0. "We were missing a lot of out best guys," was the excuse Patrick Nikolaus gave afterwards.
Slap Shots: Apocalypse Now is now 18-20-4 in season opening games. They have not been shut-out in the opening game of the season since their inaugural game in the 1983-84 season. The Domino Warriors beat them 6-0...The last time Apocalypse Now played a game without Jim Heim in the lineup was on January 13, 2013, a streak of 148 regular season games and 44 playoff games. After 30 seasons with the Apocalypse, he felt he "shouldn't stand in the way of the Apocalypse Now youth movement." He never mentioned the word "retirement"' however.... It was rumoured that Guido Sever would also be retiring from Sponge Hockey but there he was on the ice playing in his 304th regular season game...Jay Lamb played one game for Apocalypse back on January 31, 2016 to fill a depleted roster and assisted on a Jason Allard goal. He is now playing regularly for the team he grew up cheering for.
