Apocalypse Now 5, Bounty Hunters 1

Melrose - January 6, 2023: The rebuilding Apocalypse Now hit the ice for their 39th season. If not for the lost Covid season, it would have been their 40th. The most noticeable change this year is in goal. Kevin Brass takes over in net as Jim Heim is needed on the wing. Both players were stellar in their debuts as Brass held the Bounty Hunters to one goal and Heim scored his first goal since the 1999-2000 season. The game also saw Jeff Wrobleski become the first player in Apocalypse history to score 300 career goals. Standing near the side of the net, he knocked in a Jason Allard pass for the milestone goal. Jim Moore also returned after missing 32 games to help Apocalypse defeat the Hunters 5-1. He suffered an achilles injury in the 2018-19 season but it looked like he hadn't lost a step. "You can't lose something you never had," he joked on the bench. Slap Shots:Jason Allard broke the ice with the first goal of the year. It was his 5th Season Opening Goal which adds to his record. Allard also added 3 assists. It was the 10th time in his career that he had 4 or more points in a game. His best output was 7 points in a game versus the TSF in the 2007-08 season where he set the record for 5 consecutive assists...Dave Silva was called up to fill in for Michael Moore who is overseas somewhere and scored the Game Winning Goal...Wrobleski had a goal and an assist. It was his 179th career multiple point game.
