Apocalypse Now 6, Grand Beach Beer Bellies 0

Valley Gardens (AP) – January 29, 2012: Something about playing an arch rival seems to bring the best out of Jim Heim.  Heim got his first shutout of the season and the fourteenth of his career including play-offs as Apocalypse Now beat the Grand Beach Beer Bellies 6-0 on Sunday afternoon.  Heimy was tested often as the Apocalypse was sluggish at the start but he hung in there to give them their seventh straight win. Michael Moore also had a game he will always remember as he scored his first Apocalypse Now hat trick. “That was a lot of fun,” he said.  Notes:  Bryan Finney was playing in his 50th regular season game for Apocalypse…Guido Sever was playing in his 175th regular season game…Jason Allard’s goal marked the 100th regular season point of his career… Michael Moore drew comparisons to Mike Sanderson and rightly so. Sanderson also scored once in his first game with Apocalypse in the 2001-02 season but scored 4 times in his second game. Therefore, Sanderson has the record for the fastest 5 goals from the start of a career…to see the Belly get tossed from the game, click here.
