After losing in the 1st round of the play-offs last spring, Apocalypse Now came back with virtually the same line-up. The Rhinos let it be known that their win last year was not a fluke. Guido Sever led the team with a goal and an assist but it was the missed chances that cost the team. Rob Burnett returned to the fold after missing last year with a shoulder injury. "There's a new excitement on this team," he said, "It started right from the 8 pre-season games."

Pete Pearson and his Apocalypse Now team snapped a one game losing streak and thumped the Clockwork Orange, 7-1. Wrobleski got the ball rolling with 2 quick tallies in the 1st period and then Pistol Pete took over. "My hamstring is still a little sore," Pete said as he limped to his car.

Game 3: Frostbite 5, Apocalypse Now 4
Frostbite scored with less than a minute left to post a 5-4 victory over the Apocalypse Now. Returning to the line-up after missing 2 games with the flu, Jim Moore opened the scoring with a nifty wrist shot from the slot. Frostbite bounced back with 3 tallies in the opening period and controlled the rest of the game. The Apocalypse appeared to have salvaged a tie when Jeff Wrobleski scored while Myron was serving his first ever penalty with the team, but the Frostbite were not to be denied on this day. "It was a good shot," a dejected Jim Heim said afterwards.

Game 4: Reckless Faith 5, Apocalypse Now 8
An easy win and a hat trick for Jeff Wrobleski made for a happy Apocalypse Now dressing room. Myron Fiks, Guido Sever and Wrobleski scored in the 3rd period on Saturday afternoon and the struggling Apocalypse beat the Reckless Faith, 8-5. "It was one of those games when everything went well," said a beaming Guido who scored the game winner. He also scored into an empty net that required video replay to confirm. It appears that Joe Moore stopped the puck and Guido swept it into the net just before the final whistle.

It might be time to consider the Grand Beach Beer Bellies as a legitimate contender again. Not only are the Bellies winning and scoring, they're even beating the team that usually embarrasses them in every game, The Bellies took over after being down 3-2 after the 1st period and never looked back, eventually thrashing Apocalypse, 8-5. "It was Car-nage," joked Bryan Wiebe, who was involved in a crash of his own on the way to the game. Details of the accident were unclear but he did say, "Don't drive in front of me"

Apocalypse Now came back from a thumping the night before and walked
away from Animal Resurrection with a 3-3 tie. Their record now stands at 2-4-1
as they head into their 5th game in 4 days tomorrow night against
the Boogiemen.

Boogiemen 7, Apocalypse Now 3
The problems continue for
Apocalypse Now. On another cold night, they dropped a 7-3 penalty-filled game
to the Boogiemen. Jeff Wrobleski was involved in the offense, scoring his team
leading 10th goal, and the rough stuff, which became growingly testy
as it progressed. The referee could not control the game or the little guy with
glasses and ended up calling it with 6 minutes left. Notes: Rob Burnett's
brother, Curt was called up to try and inject some life into the team. It may
prove to be a sharp move in the long run as Curt scored a nice goal early in
the game after a deft pass from Bryan Wiebe.

Faith 4, Apocalypse Now 4
Jim Moore chose the right
day to play defense. His goal lifted Apocalypse Now to a 4-4 tie with Reckless
Faith. Myron Fiks got the pass to Moore who beat the sprawling goalie from the
edge of the crease to tie the game. The game also marked the return to the
lineup of Pete Pearson and Myron Fiks who both contributed a goal and an
assist.

It seems that we'll never
see the end of a Boogiemen/Apocalypse Now game. "I can't believe he called
the game," a bewildered Jeff Wrobleski exclaimed, referring to referee,
Carlos' decision to end it with about 5 minutes left. With the Boogiemen
leading 6-3, the little Boogieman with the glasses started acting up forcing
Guido Sever to take action. "It was the best 2 minutes I've ever
taken," Guido said in regard to his vicious crosscheck that led to the end
of the game. Notes: Jim Heim was playing in his 100th career
game with Apocalypse Now.

Hadashville can always count on Apocalypse Now to help them out of a slump. For the
2nd time this season, the Raiders lost to Frostbite and in the same
night trounced Apocalypse. This time the Raiders won 8-4. Notes: Rob

Frostbite took full advantage of the extra attacker
Saturday afternoon as they thrashed Apocalypse Now 9-0. If not for a stellar performance
from Jim Heim, who faced close to 100 shots including a penalty shot, it may
have been worse. "B-side is looking pretty good right now," he said
as he sat twitching uncontrollably in the dressing room. Notes: Bryan
Wiebe returned after missing 1 game with a hangover.

lift the rest of the team out of their doldrums as they fell 6-4 to the
Clockwork Orange. The loss solidified a B-side play-off spot for Apocalypse
while the Clockwork are making a run for A-side. Notes: Wrobleski's next goal will be his 200th career
goal…Myron scored his 12th goal which equals his season high of last
year.

Guido Sever scored an incredible 7 goals to set a club
record for most goals in one game and lead Apocalypse Now to a 10-5 win over
the Grand Beach Beer Bellies on Sunday afternoon."He was on fire,"
Bryan Wiebe said between bites of pizza at the team party afterwards. Notes:
Wiebe scored his 1st goal in 2 years with a nifty backhand to
the delight of his team-mates…Apocalypse Now finished with a 5-9-2 record.

Babysitting problems, conflicting hockey games,
injuries, and no offense. Put them all together and it spelled curtains for
Apocalypse Now as they were eliminated in the best of 3 semi-final against Grand Beach,
2 games to zero. Notes: Guido won the 'end of season team race' for the
second year in a row. Rob Burnett placed 2nd and Bryan Wiebe was a close
